Gov’t Mule

The Client

Gov’t Mule is an American Southern rock jam band, formed in 1994 as a side project of the Allman Brothers Band. Known for their soulful, improvisational performances, Gov’t Mule has built a loyal following over the years and continues to be a significant presence in the rock music scene.

The Ask

Gov’t Mule approached me with the need for a refreshed website to promote their latest album, Peace… Like A River. The site had to seamlessly integrate album promotion, drive pre-sales, and provide easy access to up-to-date tour information and news for their dedicated fan base. Additionally, the band wanted the site to reflect their musical identity while utilizing modern design and technology.

The Solution

Using current UX trends and insights from user research, I developed a website that not only reflected Gov’t Mule’s distinctive style but also prioritized functionality. The design was crafted to engage visitors and drive conversions, with a focus on album pre-sales and ticket sales for the album cycle tour. I incorporated interactive elements that allowed fans to explore the new album, watch music videos, and purchase merchandise, creating an immersive experience for users.

The site’s layout was optimized for mobile and desktop platforms, ensuring accessibility for fans on all devices. A dedicated section for tour dates made it easy for fans to find concert information and buy tickets, while an integrated news section kept visitors informed about the latest updates from the band.

The website was recognized for its design and functionality, winning the Microsite Certificate of Excellence at The Jersey Awards in September 2023 and the American Digital Design Awards from GDUSA in May 2023.
