Modern English

The Client

Modern English is a renowned English new wave/post-punk band that gained widespread recognition in the 1980s with hits such as “I Melt with You,” “Hands Across the Sea,” and “Ink and Paper.” Originally formed in 1979, the band has had several disbandments and reunions, continuing to engage fans decades later with their distinct sound.

The Ask

The band approached me seeking a new website to promote their latest release, 1234. In addition to showcasing the album, the site needed to be a hub for fans to easily find updated tour dates, news, and other relevant band information. Modern English wanted a modern, visually engaging site that would drive fan engagement and facilitate album pre-sales and ticket purchases for their upcoming tour.

The Solution

The solution involved designing a website that not only met the band’s promotional needs but also enhanced the overall user experience for fans. Leveraging current UX trends and comprehensive user research, I built a site that encouraged user interaction and streamlined navigation. The design focused on creating a visually compelling platform with clear calls to action that drove conversions for album pre-sales and ticket sales.

To ensure high visibility and engagement, the site included SEO-optimized content that improved search rankings, making it easier for fans to find tour information and purchase tickets. The development process involved wireframing, competitor analysis, and full UX design, ensuring a smooth user experience across devices. The final product was a responsive, user-friendly website that served as a promotional hub for 1234 and Modern English’s ongoing tour, strengthening their connection with fans while supporting their business goals.
